Confero (2024) is a dynamic percussion ensemble featuring a marimba solo and piano, commissioned by the World Percussion Group to mark the occasion of their summer 2024 tour. Drawing inspiration from the Latin term meaning "bringing together," the composition is a celebration of the harmonious blend of diverse cultures and individuals, resulting in a unified and richly textured sound.

The piece explores the unique quality of percussion instruments sourced from around the world, each carrying the essence of different cultures. In this composition, I wrote for specific instruments like darbuka, djembe, shekere and Korean toms, all with their own rich history and unique sonic characteristics that add to the overall aesthetic of the piece. Confero is a testament to the importance of recognizing and embracing the cultural tapestry that has shaped my musical identity.

Beyond the fusion of cultures, the essence of Confero lies in bringing people together and celebrating individuality. Echoing Stephen Covey's words that "strength lies in differences, not in similarities," the marimba solo acts as the cohesive force, uniting distinct musical elements, each with its own character and personality. The piece unfolds with vivacity and unyielding energy, building towards a captivating and virtuosic climax that resonates with the spirit of unity and diversity.
